Miami Salsa¡¯s Director and Lead Instructor, Alberto del Valle, is a Cuban American born in Miami, Florida with a passion for spreading and sharing Cuban traditions with people from around the world.

Alberto is the grandson of the Cuban Film Star ¡°Alberto Gonzalez Rubio¡±, the most highly acclaimed Cuban Film actor of the 1950¡¯s. Coming from an artistic family, Alberto was introduced to dancing at a very young age and acting and theatre has been a love of his since he can remember.

Cuban music and dance was always a part of young Alberto¡¯s upbringing in Miami¡¯s tightly knit Cuban community. While growing up, it was very common for Cuban music to be played at family reunions, wedding receptions, birthday parties and all gatherings that included a strong celebratory ambience. 3 elements that were always present at these parties were Cuban food, Cuban Salsa dancing, and Cuban drinks primarily ¡°Cuba Libres¡± (Rum & Coke) and the classic Cuban ¡°Mojitos¡±. At these parties, it was the usual custom for the older women in the family (Mom, aunts, older sisters, etc.) to dance with the younger boys in the family to develop their confidence and teach them how to move to the rhythm of the music being played. By doing this, they were playing their part in developing the confidence levels of the young future ¡°Men¡± of the family.

Later on during his High School years, while living in Orlando, Florida, Alberto started to get more involved in social Salsa dancing at parties, night clubs and just about anywhere there would be a good D.J. spinning Salsa and Merengue. He gives a lot of credit to those times as his source of inspiration for his current projects in the Salsa dance community:

¡°Back in Orlando in the early 90¡¯s, one of my best friends, Mauricio, was a part time D.J.. He would always play Cuban style music at clubs and we would sometimes create a circle of our own in the crowd and dance to ¡°Guaguanco¡± style rhythms while everyone else just stood around watching. Those were the times that inspire me today to share our beautiful Cuban folklore and music with my new friends from around the world.¡±

Coming from a family that places great value on education, Alberto went on to receive his Bachelor¡¯s degree in International Hotel Management from the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Montreux, Switzerland. Upon completion of his studies, Alberto has enjoyed a career in the luxury hotel industry spanning 12 years that has taken him to Switzerland, U.S.A., France, Thailand, South Korea and China.

His most recent assignments have been with Marriott International in Beijing, China where he was based for two years as Operations Manager and later in Guangzhou as the Director of Rooms Division for the China Hotel by Marriott.
